My name is Michael J. Mannion, and I was an Army Captain assigned to the Military Traffic Management Command, Transportation Terminal Group, Europe (MTMC TTGE) and served as Port Operations at the MTMC TTGE port in İskenderun from June 1978 to May 1979. Under the previous TUSLOG organization structure, it had been called TUSLOG Det 33-3. At the time I served, there were several other MTMC TTGE ports in Istanbul and Izmir. Our mission was to support the Air Force Base at INĒİRLİK, unloading Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels which brought cargo to the port, clearing it through customs, and then line-hauling it to the base. I have many memories of my time there and will develop a narrative about it.
